Big
Trouble In Little China
Jackie from Seattle Writes:
Dearest
french kicks,
how do i tell if a white guy really wants to get to know me or if he
just has a thing for asians?
 |
Josh: Dear Jackie, it should
be relatively easy to tell. If he cozies up to you, buys you
drinks and asks for your number he’s probably interested
in you. Otherwise he may have a thing for Asians. |
 |
Lawrence: The truth is white
men, like Asian men (I suspect), or even all men, care mostly
about beauty, exoticism and how that relates to getting closer
to having sex. |
 |
Matt:
I
knew a lot of white people growing up, and believe me, they
cannot be trusted! It’s not you he wants, it’s your
land! |
 |
Nick(via
Telephone): You
need to determine how specific and personal his interest is.
Is he asking you about you in any immediate way or is he asking
anthropological questions? Is he asking you about mores and
taboos? Does he speak somewhat forlornly about westernization
and the loss of a ‘certain simplicity’ that you
know for a fact he has never experienced? Does he shout questions
about traditional Asian instruments at you during rock concerts?
A yes to any or all of these could mean big trouble in little
china.
